Formation of the south preparatory committee for joint

functions of Koreans in the south and the north and abroad

for implementing the June 15 joint declaration

 

An inaugural ceremony of the south preparatory committee for joint functions of Koreans in the south and north and abroad for implementing the June 15 joint declaration was held in Seoul on January 30 with attendance of more than 300 figures representing all social standings.

The committee is composed of 34 advisors, 17 permanent advisors, honorary representative, permanent representative, about 60 co-representatives, 24 managing members and 4 co-executive chairmen. Figures from the political, civic and religious circles and representatives of pro-reunification organizations including the South Headquarters of National Alliance for the Country¡¯s Reunification, the Reunification Solidarity and the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils are involved in the committee.

South Korean Unification Minister Chung Dong-young sent a bouquet of flowers to congratulate the formation of the preparatory committee.

A declaration and an appeal to the entire Korean nation were published at the ceremony. The declaration and appeal called upon the Korean nation to turn out in the struggle to implement the joint declaration thus making a new turning-point for independent reunification this year marking the 60th anniversary of country¡¯s liberation from the Japanese colonial rule and the 5th anniversary of publication of the inter-Korean joint declaration by implementing the June 15 joint declaration.
