The world focuses on Bush

 

US President Bush intends to form his camp with hawkish elements and declares to push forward “Bush doctrine” characterized by preemptive strike, unilateralism and truculent offensives.

The world criticizes Bush who insists on his doctrine.

A former Chinese vice premier and foreign minister carried an article on the Chinese English newspaper “China Daily” on November1.

The “Bush doctrine” showed itself after the September 11 accident. The United States made “axis of evil” and “strategy of preemptive strike” on the basis of the doctrine. The principle of the “Bush doctrine,” in essence, is strength. The doctrine advocates that the US has to conquer the world with an overpowering strength, in particular, military strength. Bush invaded Afghanistan and occupied Iraq under the doctrine. The repercussions of the world on the Iraq invasion of US, in actuality, are negative. Bush has only increased tribal and religious strife. Now more than 150,000 US and its coalition forces are in a quagmire of Iraq and the US death toll in Iraq has reached 1,500.

Owing to the Iraqi war, the popularity of US in the international community falls compared with that during the Vietnam War.

History and experience of the “myth of empire” show that the strategy of preemptive strike will bring ruin to the Bush administration by instability of the “American empire” and incapable expansion they dislike.

The difficulty and disaster the US face cause by arbitrariness and arrogance of Bush not by threat from other side.

The 21st century is not the century for the US.

The “Voice of America” commented that experts said the second term of the Bush administration would not go smoothly because insecurity of Iraq and healing of disunited US and many other obstacles are waiting.

The Chinese paper “People’s Daily” raised some problems, saying Bush is faced with difficulty.

First of all, the US is seriously disunited by the Iraqi war and recent presidential election after the Vietnam War. Bush hardly has an opportunity to unite the American people as one. Moreover, he lost sense of morality. The US troops are in dire pitfall of Iraq. A greater disunion would be produced in the US if a civil war breaks out in Iraq and Bush would travel the same path as President Johnson had met due to the Vietnam War. Whether to ease the tension in Iraq or not would be another worrisome trial for the second term of Bush. The situation in Iraq is not optimistic. Surprise attacks, suicidal explosions and abduction of hostages have taken place different parts of the country. The number of hostages is over 160 and 33 people had been beheaded among them after the end of major battles in May last year.

It is another challenge for Bush to solve disputes between the US and Europe. It would take a considerable time to remove the Europeans of hatred against the US.

Another difficult task for Bush is to push forward the peace process of the Middle East. If the Palestine-Israel issue is not fairly solved, neither global anti-terrorism nor situation in Iraq can be settled amicably.

Peacefully solving the nuclear issues on the Korean Peninsula and Iran through negotiation is a knotty problem verifying foreign policy of the Bush administration.

The Japanese daily “Mainichishinbun” made cynical comment that self-complacent attitude of the US displayed operations from Afghanistan to the Iraqi war expanded gap in the UN and world as well as within the US the US must take responsibility for it in the future, too.

Prospect of Bush along with “Bush doctrine” is not bright. The downfall of Bush is further accelerated as long as he refuses to give up an empty dream of the world supremacy.
