The National Democratic Front of South Korea, the patriotic vanguard of the south Korean people, significantly marks the 35^th anniversary of its foundation at a time when remarkable progress has been made in the struggle for independence, democracy and national reunification in south Korea under the banner of Songun.

Now the south Korean people live in the June 15 reunification era.

The June 15 era is the era of independence, great national unity and reunification that is opened in the spirit of “by the Korean nation itself.”

The June 15 era was provided by the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il, sun of the great Songun.

In the mid-1990s the north Korean people suffered unimaginable difficulties due to the sudden demise of President Kim Il Sung, father of socialist Korea, whom the Korean nation has acclaimed for the first time in its history, the economic sanction imposed by the imperialists upon north Korea and continuous natural disasters. The US imperialists put the extreme pressure upon north Korea, mapping out nuclear war plan against it. It was by no means accidental that the western world spread a rumor that it would not maintain before May of 1996.

At this grave juncture, leader Kim Jong Il, a peerlessly brilliant commander, unfolded unique Songun politics with resolute determination to defend the socialist cause of Juche, build a great prosperous powerful country and accelerate national reunification, overcoming the difficulties with matchless courage and firm conviction.

Independence which is the life of a country and nation is guaranteed only by the just arms of self-defense. As the first political mode in the world that embodied the immortal Juche idea the Songun politics is the people-centered politics to safeguard the sovereignty of all members of the nation including the people in the south and the north. It also is a patriotic politics for reunification and common prosperity of the nation. It is, indeed, a treasure sword for carving out the destiny of the nation and reliable guarantee for reunification.

Thanks to the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il, north Korea is highlighted in the world as a world military power with strong military deterrence that even the United States dares not provoke and the only political power in the world where the subject of revolution is firmly consolidated with the People’s Army as core and the leader, the party and the people are single-heartedly united.

Due to the might of north Korea that has been cemented by brilliant ray of the sun of Songun, anti-north Korean and anti-socialist moves of the imperialist forces led by the US and pro-US conservative forces of south Korea to strangle the north become vulnerable and they dare not provoke an aggressive war against it. A publication of UK introduced north Korea as military power, holding that the north Korea that is able to conduct an all-out war against the US can not be called a small country. It continued that now there are a few military powers that can stand against the powerful military strength of the US.

Thanks to the Songun politics peace of the Korean Peninsula is secured and the destiny of the Korean nation is defended.

An overseas Korean said: “Thanks to the Songun politics the Korean nation becomes the most powerful nation in the world. I can not say with a single word the benefit of the Songun politics our nation enjoys. It is the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il that prevented a war of evil forces and secure peace to save the destiny of the 70 million Korean people. It is also the Songun politics that provided the Korean nation, who have suffered from national division, with the June 15 joint declaration, a reunification milestone of new century, and opened the new history of national independent reunification.

In order to frustrate intervention and war moves of the foreign forces and realize independent reunification the Korean nation should have powerful strength. The strength of the Korean nation is none other than the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il.”

The Songun politics is, indeed, the politics that safeguards the destiny of the nation and hastens the national reunification by checking war policy of the US to secure peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Thanks to the Songun politics the Korean people have become the most powerful nation in the world and opened the June 15 reunification era.

A strong man wins support of the people. The entire Korean people follow the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il, the sun of Songun who has unlimited strength of justice.

Now the south Korean people worship Kim Jong Il as sun of the nation, protector of national destiny and leader of reunification.

The south Korean mass media have carried his photos and articles on his greatness, reflecting the south Koreans’ reverence for him. 8 major newspapers and 13 magazines carried more than 250 photos of the leader and articles praising him from January to November last year. In particular, a multimedia praising President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il was carried on the Internet homepage of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions in mid-July last year. More than 2,500 pro-north Korea Internet sites are running throughout south Korea and demonstrating their far-reaching effect.

Special concern on leader Kim Jong Il’s Songun revolutionary leadership becomes the main trend of the south Korean people.

Even the conservative media commented: “We positively appreciate will of Kim Jong Il, chairman of the National Defense Commission of north Korea, to preserve nuclear on the level of national sovereignty to challenge the US strategy of world supremacy.” “If the north develops nuclear weapon the south and the north will have the best means of checking high-handedness of great powers.” “If the country is reunified, nuclear weapons of the north will belong to the Korean nation,” and “Judging from the idea of Songun politics, large-scale military capability, fortification of the whole territory and other military assets of north Korea, military victory of the US can not be assured.” Facts show the south Korean people’s conviction in the Songun politics.

Absolutely supporting the birth of the June 15 joint declaration by the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il, the whole fellow countrymen turn out as one to implement it.

The monthly magazine “Mal” carried an article saying: “We are convinced that NDC Chairman Kim Jong Il is not only the leader of the north Korean people but also the leader of the entire Korean nation.

There are no such leaders in the world as Chairman Kim Jong Il who has performed great feats in reunification and revolutionary movement. We should, therefore, uphold him in high esteem as leader of a reunified country.

Chairman Kim Jong Il turned north Korea into the people-centered socialist society and a hope and future of the progressive humankind, regarding the Juche idea as his political philosophy. But for the Juche idea, the June 15 joint declaration could not be published.”

Now reconciliation, unity, cooperation and exchange become the main trend in the inter-Korean relations through four years of struggle to implement the June 15 joint declaration. High-level talks between authorities of the two sides become regular and even military talks have been held to take practical measures to ease tension and prevent conflicts. Military authorities of the two sides agreed to stop broadcasting propaganda and remove equipments in the truce line. The number of south Koreans who visited the north amounted to 50,000 after the publication of the June 15 declaration and more than 10,000 members of separated families and relatives met again after the separation for half a century. Railway and road links between the south and north will be opened in October this year, breaking through the truce line.

Referring to the reconciliation mood between the two sides, the US newspaper “The Los Angels Times” commented that it looks like the south and the north of Korea marry again.

Now it becomes ordinary case that the athletes of the south and the north make joint entry into Athens Olympic Games and other sports tournaments holding aloft the reunification flag.

“The New York Times” wrote: “The south and north of Korea strengthen the political and practical ties, leaving the US alone. They silently ignore efforts of the Bush administration to strangle north Korea. The US government feels uneasy and is bewildered about it.”

The meeting of our nation was successfully held in Incheon in last June to commemorate the 4^th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration with attendance of the south, the north and overseas compatriots. The participants ran in front of the statue of McArthur erected in Incheon to put it to shame, chanting “independent reunification.” They demonstrated throughout the world that the June 15 joint declaration is the declaration of national independence, great national unity and peace. It is message of our nation’s reunification will and faith of the “by the Korean nation itself” sent to the United States, suzerain state and biggest obstacle to reunification.

The time is drawing nearer when the US withdraws from south Korea by the power of “by the Korean nation itself.”

As the AP reported, a lot of south Koreans as well as north Koreans regard the US policy on the Korean Peninsula as an aggressive one and a major threat to reconciliation of the peninsula and treat the US as principal enemy not north Korea. Now the anti-US struggle is prevalent in south Korea and the era of nationwide anti-US struggle has come.

Pressured at home and abroad, the US ostensibly resorts to occupation of south Korea and war policy against north Korea, clamoring about reduction and relocation of its troops in south Korea. However, there is no choice for the US but to kneel down before the might of the north Korea’s strong deterrent force and cooperation of the Korean nation and go to the downhill.

The NDFSK and other south Korean people will expel without fail the dark cloud of a permanent military presence in south Korea and war hovering over the Korean Peninsula by the US under the banner of great Songun.
