Let us wage the struggle more dynamically against

the US and the dispatch of south Korean troops to Iraq

 

A south Korean interpreter, Kim Son-il, of the Gana trade company supplying munitions to US units in Iraq was reportedly abducted and eventually beheaded on June 22 by an Iraqi resistance force in response to the refusal of the south Korean government to the demand for the immediate withdrawal of its troops from Iraq.

Now the south Korean people of various civic, religious and youth and student organizations throughout south Korea are strongly demanding the repeal of the decision on the troop dispatch which has no justification and costs the lives of the people at once and pull back already- dispatched troops from Iraq, claiming that the unreasonable decision of the government on the troop dispatch caused the death of the young man.

The root cause of this tragic incident is the US which unilaterally unleashed a brigandish aggressive war on Iraq in disregard of the international law and the UN and mobilized troops from south Korea and other satellite states to incur indiscriminate sacrifice and misfortune to the Iraqi people.

And it is the south Korean government that is directly to blame for the incident because it enforced the sending of its troops under the cloak of the “importance of the south Korea-US alliance” and the “promise with the US”.

The south Korean people should be awoken this time. They should no more tolerate the criminal acts to send our young people to an aggressive war against other country.

It is a self-destruction to waste our lives and a hideous crime against the peace-loving peoples of Iraq and other countries fighting for the sovereignty.

  All the people should more vigorously come out as one in the struggle to put an end to the US occupation of Iraq and repeal the dispatch of the south Korean troops to Iraq in submission to the US, regarding it as a righteous cause of great importance to save their children and families, preserve the nation’s dignity and rescue mankind.
