"Genuine patriotism is in the struggle for national reunification.”

This aphorism of leader Kim Jong Il has a profound meaning that those who love the country and the nation should devote themselves to the sacred struggle for national reunification.

Today the largest obstacle to national reunification is the national split and territorial division forced by outsiders.

Owing to the national division, the Korean nation has been hindered in its coordinated development and has undergone unprecedented misfortunes and sufferings. The Korean people who value the sovereignty and honor of the nation as their life can no longer tolerate the national sovereignty to be trampled down by foreign forces and the tragic division continued for over half a century.

Those who are truly concerned about the destiny of the country and the nation should not remain indifferent to the question of national reunification but turn out in the struggle to realize the cherished desire of the nation.

Genuine patriotism should be expressed in the struggle for national reunification. 

Everybody should turn out in the sacred struggle for the implementation of the historic June 15 South-North Joint Declaration, the landmark of national reunification. 

The June 15 joint declaration is the landmark of reunification, in which the south and the north solemnly declared internally and externally to reject the outsiders' intervention and reunify the country by the concerted efforts of the nation.

Therefore, all those who wish the country's reunification, whether they be in the south, or in the north, or overseas, should unite under the banner of the declaration.

The great unity of the nation is the prerequisite to national reunification and the course of reunification is that of accomplishing great national unity.

In order for the Korean nation to fulfill its responsibility and role as the driving force of reunification, they should unite as one on the basis of patriotism and the spirit of national independence, transcending the differences in idea, political view and religious belief.

This is the way to genuine patriotism and the shortcut to national reunification, the long-cherished desire of the nation.

The whole nation in the south, north south and overseas should hasten the country's reunification by implementing the June 15 joint declaration, keeping in mind the aphorism of Kim Jong Il "Genuine patriotism is in the struggle for national reunification.”
