Legend of Mt. Hanna

There is a legend widely circulated among the south Korean people.

One fine day dark clouds were suddenly driven into the Jeju Island and the lightning zigzagged, closely followed by claps of thunder.

Then it rained heavily and suddenly stopped and a beautiful rainbow formed on the summit of Mt. Hanna.

At the moment, a grand looks of a giant was appeared on the main peak of Mt. Hanna and that of a tiger drinking water was appeared on the lake Baekrog. After a moment, the tiger disappeared with the giant on his back. Then the rainbow had gone and the looks of Mt. Baekdu appeared.

When this legend is spread, the south Korean people said that Marshal Kim Jong Il having the desire of national reunification came to the Mt. Hanna situated in the southern tip of the country riding on tiger of Mt. Baekdu.
