4.2-The Movement
Headquarters for Anti-US and Anti-war and the Conclusion of North Korea-US
Non-aggression Treaty held the 19th Friday Rally for Peace against
the US and War in front of the US Embassy in Seoul.
A resolution adopted
at the rally stressed that the more the US makes desperate efforts to install a
pro-US proxy regime, the more determinedly the south
Korean people would rise up to check it.
It called for smashing
the US plot of political coup and its new war moves and waging the dynamic
struggle for the independent reunification by our nation itself.
4.7-University
students affiliated to the Seoul Area Federation of University Student Councils
staged the street propaganda activities against the US vice president Cheney¡¯s
Seoul junket at the intersection in front of Myeongdong,
Seoul.
-Baek
Jong-ho, chairman of Hanchongryon, made public a commentary to condemn the
authorities¡¯ absurd move to conceal the ill intention of the additional troop
dispatch to Iraq.
4.8- The Democratic
Labor Party called for repealing the plan of the troop dispatch to Iraq
claiming that the dispatch would pose more severe threat of terror, to say
nothing of heavy casualties among the dispatched troops.
-The People's
Emergency Action against the Troop Dispatch to Iraq grouping 351 civic
organizations stated in a press interview that it would conduct energetic
campaign to defeat 122 candidates to the 17th National Assembly,
including 72 from the GNP, 23 from the Uri Party, 8 from the United Liberal
Democrats, who supported the motion of the troop dispatch.
4.10-The Reunification
Solidarity issued a statement denouncing the authorities¡¯ stubborn willingness
to send additional troops to Iraq.
4.13-The civic
organizations including the People's Action to Revise the Unjust South Korea-US
¡°SOFA¡±, the People's Action against the Troop Dispatch to Iraq and the
Reunification Solidarity held an anti-US solidarity rally against the US vice
president Cheney¡¯s visit to south Korea.
-The People's
Solidarity for Participatory Democracy issued a commentary denouncing Cheney¡¯s
Seoul junket.
4.14-142 personages
including the chairman of the Lawyers for Democratic Society, held the
promoters¡¯ rally for 10,000-man declaration on the current situation to demand
the revocation of the troop dispatch to Iraq at the Zelkova
Café in Angukdong, Seoul.
They stated that
they would wage the all-people petition campaign to compel the newly formed 17th
National Assembly to adopt a resolution to repeal the troop dispatch before
June when the dispatch was scheduled, and different political parties to
withdraw their opinion on the troop dispatch.
4.15-The People's
Emergency Action against the Troop Dispatch to Iraq held a rally against US
vice president Cheney¡¯s junket to south Korea near the US Embassy in Seoul,
claiming that the dispatch of the south Korean troops to Iraq would be viewed
as a participation in the war, not in the peace and reconstruction projects. It
demanded that the government should not yield to the US unjust pressure.
4.16-The National
Alliance for Democracy and Reunification issued a commentary entitled ¡°The people's
victory- an era of progressive politics was ushered in¡±, calling for the
unremitting all-people struggle to clean up the pro-US conservatives and open
the era of independence, democracy and reunification by the people's concerted
efforts with the spirit of the victory in the general election.
-The People's Action against the
Troop dispatch to Iraq called a press conference in front of Cheong Wa Dae (the presidential office) to protest against US
vice president Cheney¡¯s visit to it.
In a press release, it condemned
Cheney as a murderer who concocted the false information on the Iraqi WMD and
provoked the merciless aggressive war for oil, stressing that they sternly
reject the US hostile policy towards north Korea and
its hegemonic moves.
