Statement of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea

Now, the political situation in this land is falling deep into the catastrophe and confusion unprecedented in the 55-year-long political history.

The Grand National Party which is facing the prosecutors’ investigation upon the “presidential election fund scandal”, a charge of irregularities and corruption, raised the shield called “a bill of special prosecutor’s investigation on the president’s aides scandal” in a bid to seek way out of its plight.

Bitterly exacerbated, after ChongWaDae vetoed the motion, the president of the GNP began a hunger strike and its Assemblymen decided to resign from the “parliament” and refused attending it, kicking up a racket of the “outside-parliament struggle” in a crude manner.

In result, the “parliament”, responsible to tackle the pending problems relating to the people's livelihood promptly, is totally paralyzed and the political situation is in chaos.

The unprecedented catastrophic situation of this land today is a natural consequence resulted from the US colonial occupation policy and a concentric revelation of the long-accumulated corrupt policies.

Due to the crippled operation of the “parliament” and the reckless political strife of the parties, the current situation is fixed in s state that is tantamount to an insurrection and all the people feel uneasy.

If such situation keeps ongoing, there will appear a danger of a political Coup d’etat by an all-out counterattack of the pro-US right-wing conservatives, ambitious of taking over the “government”, instigated by the US, on the democratic forces.

In the result, the fundamental democratization course, gained by the bloody struggle, could be deterred, and moreover, the movement of the national independent reunification and the inter-Korean relations which are dynamically proceeding under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration, would move further back.

The situation clearly stresses that the unlawful acts of the GNP which is seeking only the party’s interests in disregard of the public welfare, the people and the nation, should by no means be tolerated.

However, some senseless men are obsequiously behaving, even visiting those who are mocking at the people by a hunger strike, so, deteriorating the situation more severely.

The situation can be settled by begging or petitioning.

Now, it is a doomed state where everything crossed the red-line.

It is the situation in south Korea that neither laws nor authorities can cope with.

Only the determined will of our people can save the catastrophic situation.

We strongly claim that tens of millions of our people dissolve at once the “vegetative parliament”, paralyzed by the GNP and hold early parliamentary elections in next January, not April as scheduled.

The “parliament” which was reduced to an exclusive parliament and a political monopoly for the GNP and is befooling the people's mind-set and the nation, far from the public welfare and the people, has already come to an end.

Only the dissolution of the “National Assembly” and the early parliamentary elections are the right way to cope with the chaotic situation of today and save the social stability and the public welfare from distress.

The south Korean people are the masters of this land, the driving forces of history, and the ones immediately concerned to overthrowing the corrupt “parliament” and “politics”.

The people are above the “parliament” and “politics”.

The almightiness of the people has already been proved by history.

All the people should resolutely rise up in the struggle to judge the GNP which is mocking at the people and seeking only its interests, dissolve the “parliament”, alienated from the people's mind-set, and hold early parliamentary elections.

The disgraceful behavior such as the visit to console Choi-tler who is on a hunger strike farce, engorged with the people's blood, is a silly demeanor and a deplorable conduct without faith or conviction.

Such despicable politicians, ignorant of their position under the serious situation of today ought to be cursed.

The GNP which undervalues and turns its back on the people will inevitably sustain its destruction.

The NDFSK will continue the vigorous struggle along with all the people for the day when the trustful democratic policy and true independent policy are realized.
