Let¡¯s drive the US
troops out of south Korea
¡¡
From the
outset of the year the flame of the anti-US independent struggle is violently spreading
throughout the whole of south Korea.
The NDFSK¡¯s
CC called on the patriotic people of all strata in south Korea to bravely stage the
nation-wide anti-US struggle to check and frustrate the maneuvers of the American nuclear
blackmail and pull the US troops out of south Korea this year.
In a
positive response to it the headquarters of the People's Movement for Driving out the US
Troops expressed on 3 January its resolution to wage the massive struggle to expel the US
troops declaring this year a year of withdrawal of the US troops and the South Korean
Federation of the University Student Councils (an one million-student organization)
announced its determination to direct all the struggle to the anti-Americanism through the
massive anti-UA resistance encompassing the people from the different social strata and
step up the struggle to drive out the US troops in a bid to bring about the breaking hole
in the American colonial rule and glorify this year as a proud one for the great victory
in the patriotic anti-US struggle.
The
representatives of the Democratic Confederation of the Trade Unions and the National
Association of the Farmers and other 188 civic social organizations in south Korea
convened on 13 January a New Year press conference to declare this year a year of
independence and peace and set forth their resolution to stage the struggle to revise the
unequal South Korea-US Status of Armed Forces Agreement and against the American hard-line
policy toward Korea.
The Joint
Practice for Realization of Peace against War, consisting of over 700 civic organizations
held a press interview on 21 January in front of the American Embassy to denounce the US
hard-line policy toward north Korea.
On the other
hand the anti-US candlelight demonstrations have been staged as intensely as last year in
several parts of south Korea.
On 11, 14,
18, and 26 in the wake of last January 4, several thousands of civilians, students,
artists, religionists and children from everywhere across the country including Seoul
conducted the candlelight demos singing the militant songs and chanting the slogans like
¡°No War!¡±, ¡°Let¡¯s Drive Out the US Troops!¡± and ¡°Revise the SOFA!¡±.
The
demonstrators also performed multifarious plays of the anti-US theme including poem
recital, songs, playing instrumental music and composing the 4-lined verses.
In the
meantime the sacrificing struggle of the youth and students who waged the anti-US hunger
strike in the Myongdong Cathedral in Seoul from 5 to 20 last January regardless of the
cold weather greatly excited the people's sentiment as a manifestation of the volition of
the south Korean people to bring about the breakthrough in the anti-US struggle through
the overall struggle against the US with the do-or-die resolution.
Yun Gi-jin,
leader of the Youth and Students¡¯ Hunger Strike Group for Anti-US, Anti-war, Urging the
Conclusion of the Non-aggression Treaty between North Korea and the US and the Withdrawal
of the US Troops who Killed the Schoolgirls and chairman of the south Headquarters of the
Pan Youth and Students Association held a press meeting on 5 January to declare that the
root cause of the ever growing confrontation between north Korea and the US stems from the
US plots of a nuclear war against the North and he would stage a hunger strike to check
the American nuclear racket which threatens the right of existence of our nation through
the anti-US, anti-war movement, urge the conclusion of a non-aggression treaty and expel
the US troops, the murderers, calling for a dynamic anti-US resistance without slight
vacillation.
The NDFSK and the people of different social standings will develop the ever mounting the anti-US storm into a massive anti-US resistance in order to gain the brilliant victory in the grand showdown with the US by the national cooperation this year.
