Declaration on the current situation

Dear people!

A struggle against Lee Myung-bak regime spread like wildfire across south Korea.

The declarations on the current situation were published in Seoul, Busan, Gwangju and Daejeon and the nationwide rallies and demonstrations are held across south Korea. The people from different strata including workers, peasants, the needy and youth and students as well as intelligentsias and religious men take part in the drive.

The intensive resistance is an eruption of people’s grudge against the Lee clique that retreated the history with his policy of sycophancy, inter-Korean confrontation, fascist dictatorship and of ignoring the people’s livelihood. It is a stern punishment of the people to the Lee regime.

Look! Unpardonable sins of Lee Myung-bak committed against the people during his one-odd year presidency.

The Lee regime’s national policy of giving priority to developing relations with the US and Japan radically reduces south Korea into colonies of the US and Japan. The so-called “pragmatic” fascist dictatorship, an ejection of insolence and self-complacence, revived medieval age of darkness in south Korea where treachery judges patriotism and injustice prevails over justice. His anachronistic inter-Korean confrontational policy full of animosity leads the inter-Korean ties to a total collapse and the threat of nuclear war is exposed to danger.

His treacherous policy that turns back to the times and the will of the people drives south Korea into an unprecedented crisis and the south Koreans are victims to damage.

The people’s livelihood faces the peril owing to misrule and the economic downturn. The streets are full of jobless people by lay-offs and restructuring and students give up their studies unable to pay school fees. The people who lose all interests in life commit suicide. South Korea is reduced to a backward nation in politics and a barren land for democracy and civil rights during his one-odd year rule.

However, the Lee regime ruthlessly represses broad segments of people demanding democracy and the rights to existence and purges the leftist forces, branding the pro-reunification forces as group of violence.

The evacuees in Yongsan were burnt to death and ex-president suffered tragic death in south Korea.

The death of former president Roh Moo-Hyun that rocked the world is a murder by a base political retaliation and barbarous attempt to belittle the October 4 Declaration and liquidate the supporting forces. The Lee regime ordered the riot police on emergency alert during Roh’s funeral ceremony and destroyed mourning places to beat the mourners.

Public indignation at the Lee regime is bursting into flames in south Korea.

However, the Lee regime, far from apologizing the murderous crimes it committed and resigning from the power, makes desperate efforts to save ruling crisis.

The Lee clique ignored the people’s demands for apology, the government cleanup and switchover of policy toward north Korea. It recklessly suppresses the south Koreans’ demonstration against the government by employing governmental authority and makes frantic efforts to railroad evil law through parliament aimed at the establishing the fascist rule.

Meanwhile, it declared its participation in the PSI, a war tool of the US, taking the issue of north Korea’s self-defensive step, and is hell-bent on adopting a resolution on sanctions against north Korea in the UN Security Council to drive the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the brink of a war.

It put the south Korean army on the alert, asserting that north Korea made an underground nuclear test in the period of mourning and the worst crisis after the Korean War. This is an absurd ploy to divert the attention of the people.

Those who value justice and truth should stand against the Lee regime’s tyranny against the nation and the people.

The south Koreans would suffer misfortunes and can never avoid disasters from nuclear war as long as the Lee regime, that declared death to democracy and deteriorated the inter-Korean ties to a collapse, remains in office.

The current situation solemnly requests the whole nation to turn out in the struggle to ostracize the Lee clique.

The Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front, reflecting the intention and will of the people who chant slogans demanding retirement of Lee Myung-bak, declares as following:

First, the south Koreans should wage a vigorous struggle to liquidate the Lee regime, holding higher slogan “Down with Lee Myung-bak!”

Existence, far from dignity and right of human being, cannot be guaranteed under the rule of murderous regime that drove the ex-president to death.

It is an empty dream to expect democracy, civil rights and livelihood from the Lee regime. The south Koreans do not want his apology to the nation and reform of state affairs. Their only goal is to retire Lee from presidency.

All the people should hold aloft slogans demanding retirement of Lee.

Crush the murderous regime to pieces that serves the handful rich and kills the    majority of the people.

The Grand National Party of south Korea is a private political party of Lee and a stronghold of pro-US conservatives.

Hasten ruin of dictatorial regime of Lee through campaign against the GNP.

Resolutely frustrate the Lee regime’s scheme to railroad “MB evil law,” a law against democracy.

Make south Korea a place of stern punishment against Lee and the GNP.

Second, combine the struggle against the Lee regime with the struggle for independence against the US.

It is the US that manipulated the Lee regime and makes a puppet of the regime.

The US schemes to employ the Lee regime as a shock brigade to start a nuclear war against north Korea by establishing “pragmatic” fascist system conducive to its colonial rule.

Wage vigorous struggle to terminate the colonial domination and rule of south Korea by the US, the source of misfortune of the Korean nation.

Intensify the struggle for the withdrawal of the US troops from south Korea and removal of the US military bases.

The situation on the Korean Peninsula is on the brink of a war by the provocative maneuvers of the US and its followers.

Resolutely foil the US and its followers’ nuclear war plot against north Korea.

Frustrate the troop concentration and confrontation policy of the Lee regime in league with the US.

Hold higher the banner of independence against the US.

Third, intensify the drive to defend the June 15 Joint Declaration and the October 4 Declaration.

The drive to defend the inter-Korean declarations is a fundamental demand to invigorate the movement for reunification.

Reveal the criminal nature of Lee who denied the inter-Korean declarations and deteriorated the inter-Korean relations.

Throw Lee’s anti-north confrontational policy “denuclearization, opening and 3, 000 US dollars” into a dustbin of the history.

Make strenuous efforts to abolish the “National Security Law,” an evil law against reunification.

The inter-Korean declarations are a program and milestone for reunification.

Open a path for independent reunification with concerted efforts of the Korean nation.

Promote national reconciliation and make an active drive to achieve reunification under the banner of “by our nation itself.”

Resolutely frustrate vicious plot of the anti-reunification elements through united strength of the Korean people.

Fourth, win a victory in realizing democracy and reunification by accelerating the struggle.

June is a meaningful month that recorded indelible trace in the history of the south Koreans advancing for independence, democracy and reunification.

The south Koreans, chanting slogan “Abolish the Constitution!”, overthrew the military dictator and held the nationwide candlelight vigil against the US to deal a fatal blow to the US colonial rule in June. In June the South-North Joint Declaration, a milestone for reunification, was adopted in new millennium to bring about a new turning point of Korea’s reunification.

The indomitable spirit displayed to realize democracy and reunification plus present current of reunification would easily pull down a stronghold of fascism and national division.

Intensify the second popular uprising with the spirit of June popular uprising in the past.

Conduct the candlelight campaign more dynamically against the US and Lee as they did when the two girls were killed by the US armored vehicle. 

Deal a heavy blow to the anti-reunification elements with raging hatred in place of emotion echoed in June 15, 2000.

We vividly remember it.

The death of Kim Ju-yol sparked the historic April 19 popular uprising that ousted Syngman Rhee dictatorial regime, 40-odd year ago and the death Lee Han-yol triggered off the June popular uprising that put an end to the military dictatorship, 20-odd year ago.

The death of evacuees in Yongsan, the death of Park Jong-tae for the right to existence and the demise of Rev. Gang Hee-nam for democracy and reunification, their souls call merciless punishment of Lee Myung-bak.

Defying injustice with suicide is worthless. We should live rather than die to settle accounts with the Lee regime.

Satisfy their grudge through a stubborn struggle.

Keep Rev. Gang’s last words “depose Lee, a murderer, through the second June popular uprising” in mind.

Raise voice against Lee marking the 49^th day of Roh-Moo-hyun’s death.

Unity is strength and victory.

The south Korean from all walks of life should wage intensive struggle in unity, regardless of the party affiliation, political view and religion. 

Make a strenuous struggle until Lee resigns.

Display an indefatigable volition and tenacity in the struggle against Lee.

Victory is certain when the people are confident and optimistic about the victory.

 Dear people! Arouse in the nationwide drive to liquidate Lee Myung-bak.
