Let’s intensify the struggle to terminate the US military occupation and domination

Now the south Korean people mark the 60^thanniversary of the April 3 uprising against the May 10 separate election held in 1948.

The south Korean people from all walks of life are determined to realize the desire of the uprisers for independent reunification without fail, expressing pent-up indignation to the US aggressors who suppressed the Jeju islanders and behave like master of south Korea from six decades ago.

Recollecting the past, the Jeju islanders from all social standings turned out in the uprising against the US and its stooges to fabricate a pro-US dictatorial regime on April 3, 1948 with arms in their hands, chanting slogans “Oppose the humiliating May 10 separate election!” and “US troops, withdraw at once!”

The uprisers, who demanded establishment of a unified and independent government, punished traitors to the nation severely, assaulting and burning down the police stations, electoral offices and houses of reactionaries of the worst type.

The US reduced the Jeju Island to ashes and slaughtered the innocent islanders by massively mobilizing south Korean army, police, war planes and warships.

The US and its followers committed bloody suppression upon the uprisers, however, the uprisers dealt a serious blow to the US scheme to hold a separate election and establish a separate government.

The April 3 uprising inspired the south Korean people’s struggle against the May 10 separate election and made the US and the pro-US followers shudder. It was a heroic resistance that demonstrated the fighting spirit and indomitable mettle of the south Korean people to sacrifice their lives for the sake of independence of the country.

60 years have passed since the April 3 uprising. However, the south Korean people are still under military occupation and domination of the US and the country’s reunification is not yet achieved.

The US makes frantic efforts to provoke a war against north Korea, while consolidating domination over south Korea.

The south Korea-US joint military exercises “Key Resolve-Foal Eagle” staged in last March were a preliminary war exercises against north Korea.

Of late, the south Korean war maniacs said that it would take a preemptive strike against nuclear bases in north Korea without hesitation, while clamoring about “nuclear threat” from north Korea.

Fact proves that the pro-US south Korean conservative regime stubbornly pursues inter-Korean confrontation and war maneuver against north Korea.

The south Korean people can not escape from the constant danger of war and, the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration cannot be implemented as long as the US army station in south Korea and the south Korea-US warlike forces pursue reckless war maneuvers against north Korea.

Present reality requests the south Korean people to turn out in the struggle for independent reunification and peace against the US and war with the spirit of the April 3.

The south Koreans from all walks of life should intensify the struggle to terminate the US military occupation and domination with patriotic mettle and indomitable spirit displayed by the April 3 uprisers.
