Guard of justice and peace

At present, justice and peace around the world are faced with grave challenges due to the high-handed and supremacy-seeking attempts of the imperialists that are becoming ever severer in the new century.

The progressive people of the world are looking up to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in the East, which is coping with the “power policy” of the “only superpower” of the world by means of the powerful war deterrent and the arms of justice. And their particular object of admiration is the Korean People’s Army, which is backing the nation with the military power.

The KPA is making active contribution to defending justice and peace of the world by safeguarding the dignity and sovereignty of the country with its invincible military power strengthened by Songun.

It is the inevitability of history that justice wins over injustice, but it needs power to turn inevitability into reality. It is the military power that forms the cornerstone of the national power. The revolutionaries of Korea keenly felt through their experiences that neither the sovereignty and dignity of the country nor justice and peace could be defended when they had weak military power. They adopted the Songun revolutionary line put forth by President Kim Il Sung as their lifeline when their country was under the military occupation of Japan in the first half of the 20^th century. Korea, therefore, witnessed the realization of the cause of army founding ahead of the building of a political party or the state. The Anti-Japanese People’s Guerilla Army, the predecessor of the KPA, which was founded on April 25, 1932, defeated the Japanese army that had been trying to realize its ambition for a “Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere” by becoming the “leader” of Asia. It, thus, brought freedom to the nation and liberation to the country. It was a great contribution to putting an end to World War II and setting global peace. After national liberation (August 1945), it strengthened into a regular army and repulsed the aggression of the United States, which was boasting of its being the “strongest” in the world, in the Korean War (1950-1953), thereby safeguarding the sovereignty and dignity of the country. Even after the war it continued to put efforts into increasing its power, and smashed every military provocation by the US including the incidents of the US armed spy ship Pueblo (1968) and the US espionage plane “EC-121” (1969), and the “Panmunjom incident” (1976).

As it has the KPA, which is fully equipped with modern offensive and defensive means and is capable of beating off any powerful enemy, the DPRK is winning victory after victory in the politico-military confrontation with the US, the imperialist “superpower”, and peace reigns in the world, as well as the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia. So many people of the world are expressing their admiration for and gratitude to Songun politics of Korea and the KPA with strong military power. Especially, the south Koreans, who would be the first and the greatest sufferer if there was a war on the Korean Peninsula, say in unison that the KPA equipped with the strong war deterrent wards off the cloud of war on the Peninsula and ensures their stable economic activities, religious life and academic studies.

The KPA, the standard-bearer of Songun politics, is encouraging the progressive people of the world to defend justice and peace.

A cold reality about the international community is that the sovereignty, peace and justice of the country will be secure when it has a strong military power, it will fall prey to the imperialist forces and the world peace be destroyed when it has no such power. The US led the NATO to bomb former Yugoslavia and committed its armed forces to the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq under the pretext of “anti-terrorist war” after the “9/11”-these are all due to the fact that the victimized nations had no strong military power.

Songun politics of Korea has given priority to the military requirements and strengthened the armed forces from the historic lesson that the dignity and sovereignty of the country can only be defended by a strong military power, thus enabling the DPRK to squarely face the aggression and interference of any foreign forces. In the course of carrying on Songun politics in the van, the KPA has strengthened into invincible armed forces and socialist Korea has become a world-famous military power.

It is not accidental that a large number of countries, which were groping for the way to defend justice and peace in the face of the high-handed and military arbitrary policy of the imperialists headed by the US in the past, are choosing the way of strengthening their own military power.

At present, Songun politics of Korea is recognized as an out-and-out anti-imperialist and independent political mode, and the KPA the standard-bearer of Songun politics, is highly commented upon as the defender of peace and justice by the international community.
