- On October 23 the People's Action Against the Troop Dispatch held a press conference near Chongwadae and published an appeal.

The appeal noted;

The government formally announced that it would extend again the period of the dispatch of Zaitun unit to Iraq.

We could not repress the indignation toward the deceptive behavior of the authorities that broke the promise to withdraw the dispatched units by the end of the year. We denounce the authorities for giving more importance to the promise with the US which brought the calamity to Iraq, than the promise with the people, saying about so-called interest from the dispatch.

The extension of the troop dispatch can never be justified.

The people from all strata should wage a dynamic struggle for the withdrawal of the dispatched units.

- On October 24, the People for Peace and Reunification called a press interview in front of the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affaires and Trade denouncing the moves of the US and the authorities to increase the expenses for the upkeep of the US military troops in south Korea.

Speakers there condemned the US for including even the outlays of transferring its military bases which serves its domination strategy in the list of the defense sharing, forcing the south Korean side to undertake them at the recent consultative meeting on the development plan of the system of defense expense sharing.

They disclosed that the improvement plan advertised by the authorities would result in the increase, not decrease, of the upkeep expenses of the US troops by a large scale to impose further burdens upon the people.

The speakers stressed that the authorities should stop the humiliating “negotiations” and repeal the upkeep expenses of the US troops.
