Statement of AINDF spokesman

Today we significantly mark the 62nd anniversary of Korea’s liberation from the Japanese military occupation at the time when the entire fellow countrymen turn out in the struggle to open a heyday of the cause of independent reunification under the banner of “By our nation itself.”

On this auspicious day, the vanguard fighters and the patriotic people of south Korea extend the greatest respect and the warmest thanks to President Kim Il Sung, benefactor of national resurrection and peerless patriot, who liberated Korea by wisely leading the 20-year-long anti-Japanese armed struggle in Mt. Baekdu.

Korea’s liberation was a remarkable event that brought about a radical change in carving out the destiny of the Korean people and opened a new era of revolution for national liberation in the colonial countries as it was result of the wise leadership of the President who put forth the unique Songun idea and lines and defeated Japanese imperialism through armed struggle.  

By the country’s liberation, the Korean people freed themselves from the fate of colonial slave and a wide avenue for building an independent and prosperous new society was opened.  

However, the joy of country’s liberation changed into the tragedy of national division due to the US that occupied south Korea in place of Japanese militarism. 

The US, that occupied south Korea under the cloak of “liberator” suppressed the south Korean people’s ardent enthusiasm to build the country with its military rule and violated democratic freedom and rights of the people by dint of the military force. And it ignited the Korean War to impose unspeakable disaster and sufferings upon the people of the south and north of Korea and forced them the unbearable tragedy of national division by enforcing the policy for perpetuating Korea’s division.

The US, which inflicted miserable sufferings upon the south Korean people for 60-odd years, has massively reinforced modern war equipment and aggressive forces in south Korea and its surroundings, while pursuing the transfer of the wartime operational control authority and relocation of the US military bases in south Korea in order to hamper the June 15 reunification era that is advancing under the banner of “By our nation itself” and provoke a new war against north Korea.

Recently the US plans to conduct “Ulji-Focus Lens” war exercise against north Korea contrary to tendency of reunification. It clearly proved that its lip-service to dialogue is nothing but a sophistry to cover its aggressive ambition to strangle north Korea.     

Neither independence and democracy, the desire of the south Koreans, nor Korea’s reunification, the long-cherished desire of the Korean nation, can be realized as long as the US troops remain in this land.  

The south Korean people from all social standings should intensify a nationwide struggle against the US and war and for the withdrawal of the US troops from south Korea to exterminate the colonial rule and military occupation of the US, holding aloft the banner of the anti-US independence. They should also turn out in the struggle for attaching importance to the nation, maintaining peace and achieving great national unity.    

The progressive and the pro-June 15 forces should frustrate the Grand National Party’s ambition to take power in the upcoming presidential elections by forming the great alliance against conservatism as soon as possible and glorify the era of “By our nation itself.” 

Supporting the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il is a decisive guarantee to hasten the independent reunification through inheriting the exploits of country’s liberation achieved by President Kim Il Sung.

The south Korean people from all walks of life should unanimously support the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il, bearing in mind that Songun precisely means dignity of the nation, peace and reunification.

The AINDF, together with the south Korean people desirous of peace and reunification of the country, will surely realize the country’s reunification by accelerating independent reunification struggle against the US.
