Venezuela advances along the road of socialism

Leader Kim Jong Il clarified that the socialist cause is a righteous cause for realizing independence of the popular masses and it is an irresistible law of the development of history that humankind advances along the road of socialism.

Venezuelan President Chavez in his speech at the presidential inaugural ceremony held in last January declared the stand of his government to pursue socialism. He noted that socialism is the only way for the Venezuelan people, saying capitalism brought about misfortune to the popular masses. He continued that his government would remove old capitalistic state institutional system, establish a new system serving for the people, complete nationalization of economy and strive to develop national economy.

Of late, the Venezuelan government has pursued the policies for development of economy and people’s welfare in accordance with the line of President Chavez for the socialist construction.

Instances are the adoption of laws on land and agricultural development, confiscation of oil lands from the private companies and increase of wages of the workers and maternity allowance.

In particular, the important measures to switch over to socialism including fundamental revision of the constitution and nationalization of strategic production means bring about progress in liquidating the old capitalistic state institutional system, promoting social economic development and improving the livelihood of the people.

President Chavez signed the government ordinance on nationalization of all enterprises of oil industry in the end of last February. The enterprises under foreign companies including the US, Britain and France were transferred to the control of the national oil company of Venezuela.

The Venezuelan government closed private TV and expressed its will to withdraw from the IMF and World Bank, taking a firm attitude to defend its national sovereignty.

Meanwhile, it concentrates its efforts to strength national defense to cope with vicious moves of the imperialists.

In last April, President Chavez noted in TV address that Venezuela would build up a powerful anti-aircraft system to defend the country from threat or aggression of the foreign forces. The Venezuelan government took measure to increase investment in munitions factory, training facilities and maintenance facilities for military planes necessary for modernizing the national defense. In his speech last June, he called for the servicemen to prepare for guerilla warfare against the US. He stated that Venezuela strengthens the national defense to prevent the aggression of imperialists and preserve peace, saying that the US would invade the country to hold oil resources of Venezuela.

Intensifying is the struggle of Venezuelan government and the people to frustrate intervention and pressure of the imperialists and advance toward the road of socialism under the slogan “Motherland, Socialism or Death! We will win!”          

The righteous cause of the Venezuelan people for socialism, the ideal of mankind, will surely win.
