Statement of the AINDF Director of the

Workers and Peasants Department

The working masses in south Korea are significantly greeting the 117^th May Day, an international holiday of the working people in the world, at the time when the Korean nation turn out in the struggle for attaching importance to the nation, maintaining peace and achieving unity.

The working people, who turned out in the struggle against oppression of capital and slavery and for elementary rights and emancipation of workers, have struggled to regain independent rights of human and dignity and working emancipation for long time. They demonstrated united might of the working people and rendered great contributions to achieve advance of the era and social progress.

The working class and other working people of south Korea have excellently discharged their responsibility and role as the main force of the revolution in the rigorous and grim struggle to retake the sovereignty of the nation from the outside forces and achieve the genuine labor liberation.

However, they have not yet achieved genuine rights of independent human and the national reunification, the earnest desire of the Korean nation.

The south Korean people have been trampled down their basic existence rights and dignity by colonial domination and plunder of the US for over 60 years.

Of late, the US schemes to hold south Korea in economic bondage and make the south Korean workers slaves of monopolistic capital of the US by forcing the conclusion of south Korea-US “Free Trade Agreement,” despite of strong opposition of the south Korean people.

The US makes desperate efforts to hamper the era of the June 15 and eradicates the advance of the working people demanding existence rights and democracy.

The reality shows that the people can neither realize national reunification nor defend vital rights of existence of the working people as long as the colonial rule of US continues and the pro-US conservative including the GNP remain intact.

The working masses in south Korea should drive out the Yankee aggressors, a source of misfortune and pains, and accelerate the struggle against the US and the Grand National Party. 

Unity is a main spirit of May Day 1, the international holiday of the world working people, and a key of victory in the struggle to realize independence of the working people.  

The people from all social standings including workers and peasants should intensify the anti-US independent struggle to put and to the colonial domination and intervention of the US in unity. They should wage the struggle against war and for maintaining peace to frustrate the US war maneuvers against north Korea.

They should break the chains of colonial subordination and slavery and achieve genuine emancipation of workers by strengthening alliance in the struggle against the part-time jobs, evil labor laws and to win existence rights and freedom of the working people.

The people from all walks of life who are desirous of progressive reform and reunification should frustrate organizational collusion and challenges of the pro-US conservatives by dint of united might and foil the ultra-conservative forces’ attempt to take power by forming a great alliance against the conservatives. They should vigorously wage the struggle for defending and glorifying the June 15 era under the idea of “By our nation itself.” 

The AINDF, together with the working people of this land, will vigorously intensify the struggle to bring about a new society free from foreign forces and a reunified country.
