Stop conclusion of humiliating FTA

Several rounds of negotiation for the conclusion of the south Korea-US Free Trade Agreement are held despite of strong opposition of people at home and abroad.

FTA is the ruinous agreement and subordinative and plunderous agreement that intensifies the US domination over and economic subordination of south Korea and aggravates economic crisis to cause unemployment, poverty and social disorder and drive the people’s livelihood to misery.

If the FTA is concluded by pressure of the US, it will bring about bad effect to the economy as well as the whole aspects of the society. More than 67,000 workers will be dismissed in the manufacturing industry alone. Laws related to the economy and trade will be automatically revised or abolished so the whole fields of society will be affected. The south Korean people from all social standings denounced the FTA as lethal tool pushing them to death and trap of pillage driving the economy of south Korea to death.

The US is a shameless plunderer and burglar that does everything for the sake of its interests. It forced the south Korean authorities to import again the adulterated US beef and totally open market of agricultural products at the negotiation. It continuously put pressure upon south Korea to pull down the trade barrier in all fields including tariff process, tax system, safety standard & inspection of medical supplies, screen quota and intellectual property rights.

Now the south Koreans are vigorously intensify the nationwide struggle against the conclusion of the south Korea-US FTA.

Civic organizations, unionists and other people from all social standings and lawmakers of different political parties have conducted several kinds of struggle such as candlelight vigil, demonstrations and rallies. They chant slogans such as “Let us make a new society where the people live happily by pooling efforts!” “For whom the negotiation is needed which is only for the sake of the US,” “Drive out the US that forces opening of door and import” and “Stop conclusion of the humiliating FTA.”   

    The south Korean and US authorities should immediately stop negotiations for the conclusion of the FTA that drives the south Korean people to death.
