Statement of the AINDF spokesman

Now the south Korean people mark the 40 years of effectuation of the south Korea-US Status of Forces Agreement at a time when the struggle for withdrawing the US troops, epicenter of aggression and plunder and root cause of war, from south Korea.

The SOFA, which was manipulated in July 1966 and came into effect on February 9, 1967 by the US and the pro-US forces of south Korea, was a slavery document of modern version legalized military occupation of the US and gave unlimited extraterritorial special right and favor to the Yankees.

The US troops have committed horrendous crimes including murder, plunder and rape, behaving like master, and devastated the US military bases and its vicinity.

However, the successive rulers of south Korea have offered blood tax squandered from the people and land to the US despite of exercising jurisdiction over crimes of the US troops.

The south Korean people have strongly demanded total revision and abolition of the unfair and humiliating agreement.

Pressured by resistance of the south Koreans, the US came to table for revision of the SOFA for the two times. However, it forced the south Korean regime to burden the south Koreans with upkeep of its US troops. It revised the SOFA to give prerogative position to the US troops such as acquittal on environmental pollution.

The US troops despoil the land of lives of the south Koreans, while putting spur to relocation of the US troops and its military bases for attack against north Korea. They have committed dreadful atrocities in south Korea such as killing of two schoolgirls five years ago and sexual violence on a old woman in her 60s.    

The south Koreans cannot make a complaint about the violence of blood-thirsty US army

It is disgrace and tragedy of the Korean nation that the SOFA remains effective even in the 21^st century aspiring after independence and in the June 15 reunification era.

The south Korean people can never escape misfortune and pains as long as the military occupation and domination of the US and subordinate and humiliating agreement remain effective.

The south Koreans from all social standings should intensify the struggle to abolish the SOFA and withdrawal of the US troops from south Korea. They should turn out in a nationwide struggle against relocation and expansion of the US military bases across south Korea.

They should also intensify the struggle to ostracize the pro-US conservative force including the Grand National Party which tries to seize power and permanently keep the US troops in south Korea to inflict upon all misfortunes and pains upon the south Koreans.

An appeal to the people

Dear people!

A grave situation is created when the whirl wind of the National Security Law, the anti-reunification fascist law, is blowing again in this land.

Different strategic incidents including the alleged case of the wirepulling organization of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils have been plotted this year so that many so-called accomplices are arrested continuously. And tens of people including former and incumbent officials of the National Teachers’ Union, the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils, the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the County’s Reunification and the Democratic Labor Party are suppressed and executed on suspicion of pro-communist and spy on the mere ground that they praised the Songun politics and political system of north Korea and contacted with the north Koreans.

Arrest of the patriotic people who aspire after justices and patriotism and fascist fever prevalent in all fields of south Korea remind of the situation in the past period of the military fascist dictatorial regime.

Due to the frantic moves of the Grand National Party and other anti-reunification conservative forces of south Korea the NSL, which had faced the fate of abrogation by the powerful struggle of the people, is being revived. It is a challenge against the times

The GNP makes desperate efforts to turn south Korea into the past period of fascist dictatorship, drive the inter-Korean relations into jeopardy and regain power by reviving the moribund NSL.

The NSL has been notorious as a law of suppression, oppression and murder, leaving indelible crimes for 60-odd years since it was enforced.

The south Korean people have been violated fundamental democracy and human rights and lived under the dark age of medieval era by this hateful law. Many people were victim of the fascist law.

It is just the NSL that hampers reconciliation and unity of the Korean nation and obstructs advance of the June 15 era.

Really, it is anti-democratic and anti-reunification evil law that violates human elementary human rights of the south Korean people and runs counter to the spirit of the June 15 era.

The GNP’s move to revive the fascist law is an infernal insult to the south Korean people who have suffered unspeakable pains in the past and a rash act challenging against trend of the times.

The GNP, which has advocated eradication of the pro-June 15 forces, resolutely opposing the abrogation of the NSL, is making last-ditch efforts to seize power by winning the presidential elections this year to liquidate the progressive reform and pro-reunification forces by reviving the evil law.

If the GNP takes power, the abolition of NSL will be impossible and fruition of democracy gained through bloody struggle be usurped. And the precious results of the June 15 era that give optimism about and hope to reunification will be evaporated.

The south Korean people who aspire after the new and desire reunification will never tolerate frantic efforts of the GNP to revive the NSL.

The current situation urgently demands the south Korean people turn out in the struggle to deal a fatal blow to the pro-US conservative forces which have made frantic efforts to take power by reviving the evil law and to bury the NSL, the evil and anti-reunification fascist law.

Dear people!

The struggle for abolition of the NSL is an acute struggle distinguishing fascist dictatorship or progressive reform, war or peace, and national division or reunification.

The people from all social standings who value justice and truth should turn out in the struggle for abolition of NSL, a pronoun of human rights violation and a cancer of peace and reunification.

Progressiveness, reform, human rights and democracy cannot be discussed as long as the NSL remain intact.

Let us turn out in the struggle for abolition of the NSL, a symbol of backwardness of the south Korean politics and a rare evil law against human rights.  

Let us strongly intensify the struggle for the release of pro-reunification figures who are arrested by the NSL!

Let us continue the struggle to withdraw the designation of enemy-benefiting organizations attached to the pro-reunification bodies including the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country’s Reunification and the south Korean Federation of University of Student Councils!

 Let us satisfy the grudge of martyrs and patriotic people who were victims of the NSL by burying the law, a sign of grudge and hatred! 

The NSL is incompatible with the June 15 era.

The people from all walks of life desirous of peace and reunification should raise their voices against the law.

The pro-reunification organizations and the people from all social standings should intensify the struggle, setting the struggle for abolition of the NSL as a main target of reunification movement.

Let us neutralize the NSL, an anti-reunification law, by vigorously waging the struggle for implementing the June 15 joint declaration under the banner of “by our nation itself!

Let us maintain and brighten the June 15 era through massive and active struggle for abolition of the NSL!

The NSL is just the GNP and vice versa.

Let us deal a fatal blow to the GNP which is trying to reduce south Korea to a theater of lawless land after taking power!

Let us punish the GNP by disclosing all sorts of crimes it has committed against the nation by applying the NSL, the evil law! 

Let us intensify the movement for the proving the truth of the past history to settle the crimes of the GNP!

Now the GNP openly says that they will retaliate pro-reunification figures and political rivals, if it seizes power.     

If the GNP takes power, politicians and businessmen as well as pro-reunification figures who are in the van of the movement for implementing the June 15 joint declaration will be punished by the NSL.

The pro-June 15 forces should turn out in the struggle against the GNP, indifferent to class, party affiliation, position and religious believe..   

Let us put the GNP and NSL to waste dump of history by decisively defeating the GNP in the presidential elections!

It is just the US that is a maternity nurse of the unprecedented fascist law and the ringleader wire-pulling the pro-US forces behind the scene to revive the evil law. 

Let us closely combine the struggle for abolition of the law with anti-US independent struggle to put an end to the US domination and occupation!

Let us frustrate the US interference in south Korea’s internal affairs to form the pro-US reactionary regime through reviving the NSL!

Let us actively accelerate the struggle against the US and war and for the US troops’ pullout from south Korea!

The south Korean people are subject in abolishing the NSL. Nobody can abolish the NSL in place of the south Korean people.

The people from all social standings, greatest victim of the law and master of the abr4ogation of the law, should manifest their strong desire and will to liquidate the evil law through intensive struggle against law. 

All the pro-reunification organizations and progressive reform forces should strengthen the joint struggle in the struggle for abolition of the law.

The south Korean people will be miserable victim of the NSL if they slacken the struggle for abolition of the law even a day due to the desperate moves of the GNP.

Let us usher in a heyday of June 15 era, a new democratic society free from the fascist law, with concerted efforts of the nation by intensifying a nationwide struggle to liquidate NSL and the GNP, a legacy of the old times and a scrap of the June 15 era!
