Statement of the vice chairman of AINDF Central Committee

The joint New Year editorial titled “Usher in a Great Heyday of Songun Korea Full of Confidence in Victory” carried in Rodong Sinmun, Joson Inmingun and Chongnyon Jonwi on the significant new year Juche 96 (2007) in which new victory and prosperity will be recorded in the annals of Songun is a bright blueprint for building a socialist powerful and a reunified country. Now it greatly encourages vanguard fighters and patriotic people from all social standings of south Korea.

As the joint New Year editorial clarified, last year, 2006 turbulent events and miracles were recorded in history of the Korean nation, was adorned as a year of great victory, a year of exciting event, in which the dawn of great, prosperous and powerful socialist nation was ushered in. Cheers over the victorious Songun idea and politics resounded all over the land last year. Last year was a year of leap and progress that opened bright future of the country and nation.

In particular, the Korean people in the south, north and abroad made great development in history of reunification by vigorously waging the patriotic struggle for independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity under the wise leadership of brilliant commander of Songun. It demonstrated to the world that no on earth can check the current of national history advancing towards a great, prosperous and powerful reunified nation.

It is the precious fruition of Kim Jong Il’s far-sighted wisdom, correct strategy and tactics, outstanding leadership and matchless courage the north Korean army and people achieved victory and miracle last year in the history of nation.  

North Korea, in the joint editorial, called upon the entire Korean nation in the south, north and abroad to turn out in the struggle for attaching importance to the nation, maintaining peace and achieving unity to add brilliance to the June 15 reunification era in order to hasten the day of reunification.

The slogan, “Add brilliance to the June 15 reunification era by attaching importance to the nation, maintaining peace and achieving unity!” encourages the south Korean people.

The vanguard fighters and the people from all walks of life are determined to struggle to reunify the country, fully supporting north Korea’s joint editorial that clarified the right path for bringing the dawn of a reunified country.

The slogan and tasks put forward by north Korea in the joint editorial are a goal of struggle and key to victory to be maintained in the struggle for reunification because they reflect reality of reunification movement developed into a new stage, ardent intention of the Korean nation for reunification, prevailing situation and mutual relations of forces.

The stand of attaching importance to the nation, precondition to and core of reunification movement, should be maintained steadfastly.

The people from all social standings should regard national demand and interests as an absolute yardstick and advocate the principles of maintaining independence and giving priority to and defending the nation, resolutely rejecting the foreign force’s interference in the domestic affairs of the nation and its obstructions against it.

Inter-Korean relations and reunification movement should be developed in accordance with the ideal of “by our nation itself.” All the Koreans should preserve the Juche character and national identity.

Defending peace is an urgent request of the times and essential guarantee for reunification and national prosperity.

The people from all social standings should turn out in the struggle for peace against war in order to smash the military pressure, war exercises and military buildup that threaten the nation. They should launch a dynamic campaign to drive the US occupation troops, the root cause of aggression and war, out of south Korea.

Realizing great national unity is an impending task in reunification movement.

Those who love the nation and wish reunification should create the atmosphere of reconciliation and unity under the banner of unity, a way to national existence and prime mover of the cause of reunification, indifferent of idea, ideal and systems, and party affiliation. They should further promote solidarity and alliance among different reunification movement organizations with the June 15 All-Korean Committee as an umbrella body.

Opposition to conservatives in south Korea is an important part of the effort for realizing great national unity and a decisive factor for the progress of society and reunification movement.

Broad segments of the south Korean people desirous of independent and democratic society and reunification should realize broad anti-conservative alliance and should achieve victory of progressive reform and pro-reunification forces by dealing a decisive defeat to the Grand National Party in this year’s presidential elections.

The June 15 inter-Korean joint declaration is a beacon of hope that has paved the way for national prosperity and a milestone to be maintained constantly.

The south Korean people should strive to implement the joint declaration without letup in the face of any trials and difficulties and smash every attempt to emasculate and obliterate it.

Leader Kim Jong Il’s Songun politics is an all-powerful sword for national defense that has proved its invincible might and patriotic character in the practical struggle to shape the destiny of the nation and a banner in building a reunified nation.

The south Koreans should positively support the Songun politics, cherishing the boundless national pride and self-respect in the present reality in which the national dignity is being demonstrated throughout the world on the strength of the Songun politics.

This year we are greeting the 95^th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il and 90^th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, a woman hero of the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

The south Korean revolutionaries and the people from all walks of life, with national pride of having leader Kim Jong Il, a peerless brilliant commander born of heaven, should adorn this year a historic year of opening turning point in accomplishing the cause of reunification by intensifying the struggle for attaching importance to the nation, maintaining peace and achieving unity under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration.                       

The AINDF will discharge its historical responsibility and mission as the vanguard of revolutionary movement in south Korea in the van of the independent reunification cause against the US in the future, too.
