Son of
guerillas
One of the
songs that are widely sung in north Korea is The General Is the Son of Guerillas.
Leaving the
first footprint in the white snow in the primeval forest
The General has succeeded to the will of his
guerilla family
Flying the red flag of Commander Kim of Mt. Baekdu
Our general is the son of guerillas.
The song
praises leader Kim Jong Il as the
same brilliant commander as President Kim
Il Sung, the commander of the anti-Japanese guerilla army in the past.
As the song
says, leader Kim Jong Il is the son
of guerrillas. On February 16,
1942, he was born in Mt. Baekdu, which was
the base for the armed struggle to liberate Korea from the
military occupation of the Japanese imperialists. He was the first accustomed
to seeing his mother in her military uniform, and used to the sounds of
gunshots as a lullaby. His childhood friends whom he met everyday were the
fighters scorched with powder smoke. He used to run about on the steep mountain
as if it were his courtyard. No great man in the world was ever born of such a
legendary guerilla family in such extraordinary circumstances.
Leader Kim Jong Il grew up, acquiring the
method of guerilla warfare.
During the
Korean War (1950~1953) when he was about 10 years old, he spent his time by the
operation table in the supreme headquarters, learning the mysterious art of war
of President Kim Il Sung who defeated the United States, the
self-styled strongest nation, for the first time in history.
He who
started his Songun leadership from the early 1960s, succeeding the tradition of
the guerilla family, skillfully applied the method of guerilla warfare together
with the President in dealing with the major incidents provoked by the US such as the Pueblo incident in January 1968 and the ¡°Panmunjeom¡±
incident in August 1976.
The birth and
growth of leader Kim Jong Il are closely
related to Mt. Baekdu, the sacred
mountain of the Korean revolution and the base of the anti-Japanese guerilla
army. In his lifetime, President Kim Il
Sung said that Kim
Jong Il was the general born with the spirit and mettle of Mt. Baekdu, and
that his unique characteristics such as his faith and will unshakable in any
storm, his heroic courage and guts that convince him of a way out of the worst
situation, his stubborn spirit of offensive against difficulties, and his
infinite enthusiasm like an eternal spring could be compared to Mt. Baekdu.
The people
clearly realize through the recent events that Kim Jong Il is exactly the same as General Kim Il Sung, the tiger of Mt. Baekdu, who made
the Japanese imperialists shudder even by hearing his name. Under the severe
circumstances of the collapse of socialism in the world, north Korea not only
defended the banner of socialism but also made a new turning point in building
a great prosperous powerful socialist nation. This was, in fact, a great
victory of socialist Korea in the war
without the sound of gunshot against the imperialists. It was another heroic
epic like the one made by General Kim Il
Sung who defeated the Japanese imperialists and
liberated Korea in the past.
Saying that the red flag is the symbol of President Kim Il Sung¡¯s faith as well
as his own faith and that nobody should expect any change from him, he has held
up the red flag ever higher which had been held up by the President in the
forests of Mt. Baekdu. He is indeed Commander Kim of Mt. Baekdu today.
The day when
he held up the banner of Songun and led the struggle to defend socialism were
the days of winning one victory after another in the confrontation with the
enemies by means of his superb guerilla war method, guerillas¡¯ courage and guts
and strategy. After the Cold War, he challenged the high-handedness of the US in the face,
who posed as the ¡°only superpower¡± in the world and tried to handle the other
countries in its favor. During the ¡°nuclear crisis in the Korean Peninsula¡± in the
first half of the 1990s, he drove the US
administration into a ¡°state of shock¡± in an instant by declaring the state of
semi-war and making the government statement of withdrawal from the NPT against
the US military
threat and nuclear inspection. In the second half of the 1990s when the US revealed the
¡°Operation Plan 5027-98,¡± a new Korean War scenario, to threaten north Korea he dispirited
the enemy at a stroke by issuing a hard-line statement of the Korean People¡¯s
Army General Staff spokesman. At the beginning of the 2000s, when the US made another
nuclear fuss, he gave a blow at it with the statements of formal withdrawal of north Korea from the NPT
and the possession of nuclear weapon. On this planet there will no equal to him
who decisively fights down the hard-line of the ¡°only superpower¡± with his
hard-line.
His
continuous inspection of army units to strengthen the defense power of the
country was an application of his mysterious adroit and superb guerilla war
method. The US and its
followers who pay all their attention to his every move are quite at a loss how
to judge his continuous inspection of army units. The leader who has just inspected
an army unit in the eastern sector visits a post on an island on the West sea
in no time, and gives an inspection to a frontline post quite unexpectedly. A
high-ranking officer of the US military who
came to know later about his inspection of Panmunjeom where the friend and foe stand
face-to-face gave a squeal that ¡°it seemed as if I were given strong blow on
the back of my head.¡±
The famous ¡°art
of compressing space¡± of General Kim Il
Sung who used to drive the Japanese army into an
abyss of total ruin in the past is newly put into practice by General Kim Jong Il .
¡¦
Striking a
flash of lightning in the enemy camp from the east to the west
He applies the great art of war of Mt. Baekdu on his way to the front
Our general who is always on the offensive for
motherland all his life
Is the son of guerillas.
The Korean
people who sing the song, The General Is
the Son of Guerillas with a pride, will always win a victory under the
leadership of leader Kim Jong Il.
