Statement of AINDF spokesperson

Now the Korean people mark the 34^th anniversary of the publication of the July 4 the South-North Joint Statement at a time when the patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity are intensified under the banner of “by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.”

The publication of the joint communiqué in July 1972 that stroke the world with excitement was a historic event as it made a breakthrough in the inter-Korean relations which have been deadlocked for several decades and instilled confidence and hope for reunification into the Korean nation desirous of reunification. It is attributable to the Juche-oriented ideas and lines of reunification and energetic leadership of President Kim Il Sung.

With the publication of the joint statement, the core of which is the three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity, the Korean nation could have a powerful weapon to solve the reunification issue in accordance with intention and demand of the Korean nation.

The vanguard fighters of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and patriotic people from all social standings of south Korea express the warmest gratitude to President Kim Il Sung who was anxious about national division, made the three principles of national reunification, a reunification program for the nation, and devoted his all to reunification in his lifetime.

Korea’s reunification, a lifelong desire of the President, is carrying forward by leader Kim Jong Il, the sun of the 21st century and lodestar of Korea’s reunification.

Leader Kim Jong Il illumines the way ahead of the Korean people by stipulating the three principles of national reunification, the 10-point program of the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Goryo put forward by President Kim Il Sung as the three charters of national reunification and advancing the five point policy of great national unity. He provided the historic Pyongyang summit and the June 15 joint declaration with the great patriotic courageous decision, thus bringing about an epochal phase of reunification.

Thanks to the publication of the inter-Korean joint declaration, the era of “By Our Nation Itself” was opened, in which the Korean nation in the south, north and abroad pool their efforts to realize reunification, and it became irresistible trend.

The South-North Joint Declaration is a declaration of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity embodying the three principles of national reunification and a milestone of reunification in the 21st century.

The three principles of reunification and its embodiment, the inter-Korean joint declaration are immortal program for reunification that the Korean nation should hold until Korea is reunified, no matter what the situation may change.

The US and the pro-US anti-reunification conservative forces in south Korea make desperate efforts to check the advance of the June 15 era. The US makes desperate efforts to turn the June 15 era into the past confrontation era as it had wire-pulled behind the Yushin fascist regime not to implement the historic July 4 Joint Communiqué. Now the US is escalating the tension in the Korean Peninsula with its war moves and hostile policy against north Korea.      

Meanwhile, the pro-US conservatives including the Grand National Party cling to the anti-north Korea confrontation in pursuance of the US policy, running counter to the independent reunification era.   

The south Korean people from all walks of life should turn out in the struggle to frustrate the anti-reunification moves of the US and the pro-US conservatives and preserve the June 15 joint declaration with concerted efforts of the Korean nation,. 

The AINDF will surely bring about a reunified country that the entire Korean nation wishes by holding aloft the three principles of reunification and the June 15 joint declaration, and accelerating a nationwide struggle for reunification.
