Optimism of north Korean People
In
north Korea the construction of a great prosperous powerful nation is making fast
progress.
Large
and small power stations and modern production bases have been constructed
across the country, a large area of farm land standardized and long irrigation
waterways cut.
Town
and rural communities, work places and living quarters have all been updated, offering
a feast for the eyes.
Hardly
believable is the fact that these changes have taken place in the small country
that was in the worst ever difficulty only a decade ago.
The
north Korean situation in the mid-1990s was very rigorous. Extremely difficult
political and economic condition due to the disintegration of the socialist
system in the former Soviet Union and other east European countries,
catastrophic natural damages like the record tidal waves and flood which were
the first time in 50 years and the worst drought in 100 years, sudden death of
President Kim Il Sung who had been
leading the country for decades, the superpower's desperate offensive to
isolate and stifle north Korea—all these might add credibility to the rumor
about north Korea's early downfall spread in the West.
What
did make the north Korean people turn the adversity into the favorable
circumstance? It was their optimistic spirit. They were confident of victory
and a bright future.
Their
optimistic spirit is based on their absolute faith and trust in their leader Kim Jong Il.
He
has been leading the nation for more than 40 years, enjoying absolute support
and trust from the people for his uncommon ideological and theoretical wisdom,
outstanding leadership ability and great personality befitting a nation's
father. The north Koreans are convinced that the policies and line set forth by
him are just and that victory and glory, great fortune and bright future are guaranteed
only when they follow the leader.
That
was why they have followed him without the slightest hesitation and vacillation,
when he, with matchless courage, uplifted the banner of Songun politics in
order to defend national sovereignty and socialism against the US-led forces'
offensive to isolate and strangle the country.
Soldiers
mobilized in the project to build a waterway tunnel of a power station worked
devotedly to hasten the day of its completion under the slogan "Never
think of seeing the blue sky of the country before carrying out the order of
the respected supreme commander!" This eloquently shows how loyal the
soldiers are to their leader. By dint of such an absolute trust in and fidelity
to the leader, the north Korean people overcame all the difficulties during the
time of the "Arduous March" under the slogans "Let us go the
thorny path with a smile!" and "A hundred miles of arduous march will
lead to a thousand miles of blissful journey!"
The
north Koreans' optimism is rooted in the conviction on the justice of the socialist
cause.
The north Korean people who have lived under the socialist system for decades have experienced that socialism alone provides a dignified and happy life to the masses of the working people. They are convinced of the science, justice and future of the socialist cause.
Because
they had a firm belief in the justice and invincibility of their cause, they
defended socialism resolutely and pushed ahead with the struggle to build a
great prosperous powerful nation despite the rigorous conditions. With great
fortitude, they erected grand monumental edifices throughout the country and led
an optimistic life, creating a revolutionary and cultured way of life.
The
optimistic spirit of the north Korean army and people comes from their outlook
on life whereby they live today not for the sake of today but tomorrow.
To
value and brighten one's life is a desire of everyone. How to bring one's life
into bloom and brighten is decided by one's outlook on the life. From the north
Koreans' point of view the revolution is a struggle for the generations to come
and the future, and the worth of life is in working for the future. Since they
have the outlook on life that nothing is more honorable, truthful or enjoyable
than dedicating oneself for the sake of the future, they are devoting their all
not for their own comfortable life but for the creation of a bright future and
the happy life of the younger generations.
