The   Central  Committee  of  the  National  Democratic   Front  of  South  Korea  sent  a  message to the great leader Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the second anniversary of the historic Pyongyang summit meeting and the publication of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration. The message reads.

 

Today we greet the second anniversary of the historic Pyongyang summit meeting and publication of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration at an emotional time when the nation's desire for reunification grows warmer amid brilliant rays of the sun.

On this significant day the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea, representing the intense loyalty of the vanguard fighters and all other patriotic people in the south, reverentially extends the highest honor and warmest gratitude to you the great leader Marshal Kim Jong Il, sun of the nation and lodestar of national reunification, who has opened a turning phase of reunification and creates a new history of reunification.

It was a historic event to be recorded with red letters in the history of the reunification movement that you, the peerlessly great man of Mt. Baekdu sent by heaven, arranged the inter-Korean summit meeting in Pyongyang for the first time in history and published the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration, the milestone of reunification in the new century, with clairvoyant wisdom and patriotic and resolute decision.

You performed a great and immortal exploit by achieving a great cause in the historic 55 hours of the Pyongyang meeting, which had not been realized for 55 years of national division, and by providing a firm guarantee to reunify the country peacefully with great national unity on the principle of national independence.

The historic moment was the days of joy and emotion when we the south Korean people saw the august image of you, the sun of reunification we had yearned for even in dreams and, completely attracted by your great personality, shouted "Long live General Kim Jong Il!" on top of our voices. The glory and jubilation we had at that time are still overflowing in our hearts.

The historic June 15 joint declaration is a precious fruit produced by the great will and matchless courage for independent reunification, broad and patriotic magnanimity and high political ability of you who regard it as your lifelong duty to carry out fatherly PresidentKim Il Sung's instructions for national reunification.

As you arranged the historic June 15 South-North Joint Declaration, the milestone of reunification, fathoming the aspiration of the nation and requirement of the times at the historic time of centurial change, the national reunification movement has met a new age of dynamically advancing itself and winning victory with the invincible power of great national unity under the banner of national independence.

For two years after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, the reunification movement has met a new stage of progress in which it advances with your idea and leadership and wins victory after victory by dint of your virtue, and the worship of Kim Jong Il is erupting like an active volcano among the south Korean people. And the public enthusiasm has become an irresistible trend to achieve the country's reunification with the concerted efforts of the nation.

While the reunification movement is conducted dynamically without precedent in the south, north and abroad, national reconciliation and unity have remarkably been promoted true to the June 15 declaration and the international support and encouragement to our nation's reunification movement get stronger as days go by.

The dignity and mettle of the nation are powerfully demonstrated and the nation's movement for reunification makes unheard-of epochal progress. It is indeed a result of the outstanding and seasoned leadership of you who defend the safety of the nation and peace of the world with the great army-centered policy and make restless efforts for the country's reunification.

Really, you are the savior and defender of national destiny and creator of the history of national reunification.

Now all the south Korean people are full of the boundless happiness and pride of having you, the greatest of great men in the world, as the leader of the cause of national reunification. They have also the ardent resolve to build a reunified and powerful nation at an early date by faithfully carrying out your idea and leadership.

As you wisely lead the entire nation with the uplifted banner of the invincible army-based policy, the south Korean people cherish deep in their hearts the absolute faith and will that the country will certainly be reunified and the day is not far off when the Korean people will live happily as a powerful nation.

We will make the NDFSK and the rank of pro-reunification forces the hot-blooded loyalists, faithful comrades and devoted realizers entrusting their whole destines to you and following your army-based policy and leadership for reunification with intense loyalty and have the whole land of the south overflow with the worship of you.

Under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration we will resolutely smash the anti-north Korea and division-seeking maneuvers of the anti-reunification forces at home and abroad by realizing national independence and great national unity and further accelerate the grand march toward independent reunification to make this year a year of promoting unity and reunification with the concerted efforts of the nation.

As you lead the nation, reunification of the country is certain to come and the 21st century will be brilliant as the reunified and prosperous Kim Jong Il century, the most glorious century in the history of our nation.

Your good health and safety are the greatest joy and unanimous wish for our nation and the whole humankind, for they find the sun in you who are the incarnation of patriotism, symbol of victory and glory and lodestar of happiness and destiny.
