The vice-chairman of the Central
Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea issued statement
supporting the joint New Year editorial of north Korea. The statement reads.
The joint editorial ¡°Let us fully
demonstrate the dignity and might of the DPRK under the great banner of army-based
policy¡± carried on the newspapers of the north Korean party, army and youth
league on the occasion of the New Year Juche 92 (2003) redoubles the south
Korean people¡¯s confidence in and enthusiasm for national reunification.
Emphasizing
that a decisive turn for national reunification should be made by our nation
itself under the uplifted banner of the South-North Joint Declaration in this
significant year, the joint editorial called upon the entire nation to realize
national cooperation, deter the danger of a new war on the Korean Peninsula and
support the army-based politics.
Representing
the unanimous will of the NDFSK vanguard fighters and all other patriotic
people in the south, I extend full support to the joint editorial which shows
the guideline and orientation of this year¡¯s movement for reunification.
In
the New Year we will further expedite the grand march toward independent
reunification, holding high the historic June 15 inter-Korean joint
declaration, which has fully displayed its validity and vitality as the
invariable milestone of reunification.
The
stand and attitude toward the joint declaration is a touchstone distinguishing
patriotism from treachery.
We,
together with the whole nation, will struggle according to the slogan ¡°Let us
bring earlier the independent reunification by the concerted efforts of the
nation!¡± true to the basic spirit of the joint declaration.
National
cooperation is the shortcut to reunification.
National cooperation is a natural reason and way of
living for the Korean nation that has shared the same blood, the same
culture and the same history on the same land for five thousand years.
We
will as always give priority to the common interests of the nation against the
traitorous cooperation with outside forces and overcome all difficulties and
hardships with the might of great national unity based on the idea of national
independence and patriotism.
It
is an urgent task assigned to all the Korean nationals in the south, north and
abroad to prevent a nuclear war and secure peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The
moves the United States intensifies more frantically these days to stifle north
Korea is just a wild gale to stifle the entire Korean nation and the US threat
of a preemptive nuclear strike on the north is a heinous nuclear war move to
exterminate our nation.
The
showdown on this peninsula at present is just the showdown between the whole
Korean nation in the south and the north and the United States.
The
NDFSK and patriotic people in the south will sharpen vigilance against the US
reckless war moves threatening the existence of the nation and unfold a
resolute anti-US resistance to foil the war moves with the united efforts of
the whole nation under the banner of anti-US, anti-war and peace.
For
the present, we will continue the struggle to receive an official apology of US
President Bush for the death of two schoolgirls by a US armored vehicle and
punish the GI murderers and will develop the struggle to the struggle for the
withdrawal of the US troops of aggression, the source of all misfortunes and
sufferings in this land.
North
Korea¡¯s army-based politics is a patriotic one securing the sovereignty,
existence and prosperity of the nation.
The
peace and bright prospect of reunification of the Korean Peninsula lie in the
preservation of the army-based politics and support to it.
The NDFSK will wholeheartedly support the army-based
politics of great Marshal Kim Jong Il,
peerless patriot, and make more dynamic efforts to realize
the independent reunification of the country with the concerted efforts of the
nation under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration.
