An enlarged meting of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea was held on January 27.

Present there were the members of the Presidium and the Central Committee and representatives of the provincial and municipal committees and organizations at different levels.

Discussed at the meeting was "On significantly commemorating the 90th birthday of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung and celebrating the birthday of the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il."

With the birthdays of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il approaching, the hymn of boundless reverence and loyalty are reverberating the universe and the longing and adoration for the great leaders are increasing as never before among all the NDFSK members and other south Korean people, the meeting noted, and continued.

April 15, the birthday of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, is a holiday of great fortune of the nation when the sun of the nation rose high, brightening the dark land of the country, and a historic and auspicious day when the age of independence dawned.

The whole life of President Kim Il Sung is a history of the brilliant sun in which he, endowed with gifted ideological and theoretical wisdom, unusual leadership and noble virtue no other great man had possessed, performed everlasting feats in the annals of the times by leading the 20th century under the banner of Juche. 

Recollecting with warm emotion the holy revolutionary life of the President, the benefactor of the country's liberation, ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander and peerlessly great man, the meeting stressed that the perfect solution of the issue of succession to the leadership of the revolutionary cause of Juche is the greatest exploit he made for the country, the nation and the times.

It noted that he devoted his heart and soul to provide the nation with the three charters of national reunification and lay down the solid foundation for the building of a reunified powerful nation from the beginning of the country's division to the last moment of his great life.

It also pointed out proudly the nation's indefinite pride and happiness of celebrating the birthday of Kim Jong Il, sun of the 21st century, who is just like Kim Il Sung.

Great Marshal Kim Jong Il, who has wholly inherited the gifted ideo-theoretical intelligence, outstanding leadership and lofty virtue from the President, has wonderfully carried out the cause of the leader's immortality on the highest level and is firmly protecting and carrying on the President's revolutionary idea and achievements, it noted.

Recollecting the immortal revolutionary activities of the Marshal who is wisely leading the advance in the new century, thereby leaving brilliant revolutionary records of a peerlessly great man, it emphasized that he has saved the destiny of the country and nation from crisis by frustrating the imperialists' frenzied maneuvers to isolate and stifle north Korea and opened a turning phase in building a Juche-based powerful socialist nation and accomplishing the cause of national reunification with the ever-victorious army-centered policy unprecedented in the world political history.

In particular, he arranged the historic Pyongyang summit meeting between south and north Korea and published the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration, the milestone of reunification common to the nation, it said, and added. This is an event of remarkable significance to be recorded in the history of the nation's reunification movement.

The international authority of north Korea has been remarkably enhanced and the north Korean people, upholding the slogan "Our leader, ideology, army and system are best!", are effecting ceaseless surges and innovations in the general march to add luster to the history and achievements of the great leaders, it said, and added that this is entirely thanks to the Marshal.

The blessing with the leader and the sun which the nation enjoys generation after generation is indeed the highest honor and the greatest fortune of the nation, it stressed.

Having Kim Jong Il whom the whole world eulogizes as the sun of the 21st century, the immortality of the President and the bright future of the nation are promised, it noted, and added that the significant Day of the Sun and February holiday will be important occasions of demonstrating the pride and dignity of Kim Il Sung's nation to the whole world and happy events to open a decisive phase of reunification under the banner of national independence.

The meeting emphasized that the NDFSK members and all other patriotic people in the south should faithfully follow the leadership of Kim Jong Il true to the instructions of Kim Il Sung.

The meeting inaugurated the "Preparatory Committee to Commemorate the 90th Birthday of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" and the "Preparatory Committee to Celebrate the Birthday of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il" and elected chairmen and members of the committees.

In order to significantly commemorate the Day of the Sun and celebrate the February holiday, the meeting decided as follows, reflecting the unanimous desire of the NDFSK members and other patriotic people:

 

1.  The NDFSK Central Committee will send a letter and a congratulatory message to the great leader Kim Jong Il, sun of the 21st century and lodestar of national reunification, reflecting the unbounded reverence and loyalty of the vanguard fighters and all other people.

 

2.  In order to most significantly commemorate the Day of the Sun and celebrate the February holiday as the greatest holidays of the nation and humankind, the period from April 1 to 30 will be set as a period to commemorate the 90th birthday of Kim Il Sung and the period from February 1 to 28 as a period of celebration of the birthday of Kim Jong Il.

 

3.  During the periods, the preparatory committees, NDFSK organizations at all levels and their affiliated organizations will organize colorful political and cultural events.

 

4.  All the propaganda means of the NDFSK including the radio "Voice of National Salvation" and the Kuguk Chonson Internet will release special programs and special issues.

 

5.  The overseas missions of the NDFSK will independently organize different political and cultural events in conformity with their practical conditions.
