The Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea sent a congratulatory letter to the great leader Kim Jong Il on the occasion of his birthday. The letter reads.

Greeting the auspicious February holiday when the public feelings of this land lean toward the holy place of the sun of the 21st century, the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea extends the highest honor and warmest congratulations to you the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il, reflecting the boundless reverence of the vanguard fighters and all other people in the south.

The historic February 16 when you were born as the son of guerillas at Mt. Baekdu is a day of great fortune when our nation and humankind met the future sun and a great auspicious day when a bright prospect of the Juche cause was promised.

You, who have led the revolution and construction in the van of the Juche cause already in your early days, have brightly illumined the way ahead of the times with extraordinary wisdom and created a new history of gigantic changes through great devotion, performing undying exploits for the motherland and the nation, the times and humankind.

You prominent in idea, leadership and virtue have enriched fatherly President Kim Il Sung's revolutionary idea to the ever-victorious guiding idea, guiding theory and guiding method of the era of independence and energetically led the cause of leader's eternity and the army-based cause unprecedented in history to put the Juche cause pioneered at Mt. Baekdu on the track of new victory and surge.

You have seen to it that the fatherly President is preserved in state in high esteem and his history flows forever along with the nation and humankind. This is one of the greatest exploits which can be made only by you, the supreme incarnation of noble loyalty and moral obligation.

By enforcing the unique army-centered politics based on the Juche idea, you have smashed the US-led imperialists' maneuvers to isolate and stifle north Korea, saved the nation from crisis and opened a new age of building a powerful nation. This is a miracle unprecedented in history, which strikes all people with admiration.

North Korea's withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty in January this year was a just self-defensive step that dealt a heavy blow to the haughty United States and the unfair intervention by the International Atomic Energy Agency and a remarkable event that demonstrated the invincibility of army-based north Korea no enemy can provoke.

The great army-based politics of you the lodestar of national reunification demonstrates the dignity of our nation and opens a bright prospect of reunification.

The June 15 South-North Joint Declaration arranged by your army-centered leadership is a declaration of national independence which demonstrated both internally and externally the nation's will to reunify the country independently with its concerted efforts. The great significance and incomparable vitality of the declaration stir up public enthusiasm for reunification.

The south Korean people fully support your idea to reunify the country with the concerted efforts of the nation without outsiders' intervention and dependence on others.

In south Korea today the driving forces of reunification unite themselves true to the great proposition of "By our nation itself" and the reunification movement enters a new stage of ideological awakening, organization and popularization.

Amid ever-increasing public reverence for you, the public consciousness radically changes to anti-Americanism and collaboration with north Korea, effecting a remarkable qualitative upsurge in the national democratic movement.

The enthusiasm for independence and great unity of the nation rises high without precedence and the national democratic movement is in a new turning phase. 

All these successes are unthinkable apart from your army-based leadership.

The country will certainly be reunified independently as the nation has you, the great army-based brilliant commander revered by all people, as the lodestar of reunification and sun of the 21st century.

Celebrating the significant February holiday, we renew the resolve to hold you in high esteem and bring a new victory in the national democratic movement.

Upholding your great army-centered politics, we will strengthen the NDFSK and revolutionary movement ranks in accordance with the requirement of the army-based era and conduct more dynamically the organizational and political activities to have all people fully support the army-based politics.

We will popularize the anti-US struggle and realize broad solidarity and thus turn the confrontational structure on the Korean Peninsula to a showdown between the entire Korean nation and the United States and foil the anti-north Korea policy and nuclear racket of the United States against north Korea.

Under the uplifted banner of the June 15 joint declaration, we will open a new turning phase of national reunification without fail by frustrating the maneuvers of the separatist forces at home and abroad to obstruct the inter-Korean reconciliation, cooperation and independent reunification of the nation.
